Scientists are seen in popular culture on TV shows, in movies, and sometimes on the news. There are many different kinds of scientists. There are scientists who study plants, animals, stars, cells, fossils, and diseases, but everyone's favorite scientist is the mad scientist. Often portrayed in movies(always a man), he is passionate about science and interesting to watch. His ideas are always crazy and unheard of. Some have good intentions others are evil. Examples of a mad scientist are:

All of theses characters would come to mind when talking about a mad scientist. These characters do not portray what is the typical scientist in real life. They are dramatized, however i think they teach us a lesson about life and science. Let's take Victor Frankenstein for example. He had this idea to create something that no man has ever accomplished. He would create a living being on his own, a man made from the strongest best body parts of corpses.

Blinded by the thought of having that power, he does not think of what the consequences could be. The creature he creates ends up with a terrible existence and a lonely life, and Victor ends up losing the woman he loves to the creature's death grip and dying right after that. Victor Frankenstein messed with something above his control and suffered the consequences in the end.

Mad scientists teach us not to get in over our heads. They prove to us that it is best to take care in what human beings create and be cautious when delving into new and captivating ideas. They show people that big ideas can have big consequences.
